This week’s question is: What to do when you feel like you’ve got no support in your business? This makes me a little bit sad but I know that most of us at one time or another have felt like we have no support for what we’re trying to achieve. Perhaps you’ve felt like that.
Hi I’m Kat from craftercoach.com and you are listening to a Crafter Q&A where I answer your creative business questions so that you will never feel lost with your craft business ever again.
This week’s question is:
“What to do when you feel like you’ve got no support in your business?”
This makes me a little bit sad but I know that most of us at one time or another have felt like we have no support for what we’re trying to achieve. Perhaps you’ve felt like that.
Perhaps you have a big dream and maybe you’re only just getting started, so you’ve got no income coming in.
It Happens To All Of Us
When you have no income coming in, it’s hard for those closest to you to understand why you’re dreaming this dream in the first place, and it’s hard for them to see the finish line.
It can cause people to be unsupportive and perhaps a little bit negative about your business, which is really, really tough.
Some people are just mean, nasty people and won’t support you no matter how successful you are or how far you’ve come.
What To Do When No One Supports Your Business Dream?
You need to identify that segment of those people in your life who aren’t giving you any support. You probably just need to stop talking to them about your business.
You need to find the people that are going to support you.
Find Supportive People Even If They Happen To Be Online
If that’s the people that you’ve got at home around you, that’s great, that’s amazing.
But if you can’t get that support at home, then reach out.
Use this thing that we have called the internet and find some people that will support you. Find your community. Find your tribe of people that are going to cheer when something goods happen to you, who are going to be sympathetic when something not so good happens in your business.
There’s plenty of places online that you can find your people.
You can find them in Facebook groups. You can find them in forums. You can find them in prviate membership communities. There are so many places where you can find people that will support you in what you are doing.
Getting support in my business is one of the most important things for me because it keeps me going. Even when I feel like rubbish, even when I feel like giving up, having that support just keeps pushing me a little bit further. If you don’t have that, you need to find it.
Because it’s really, really hard to succeed without it.
How About Joining A Mastermind?
I have a mastermind group with four other ladies who do very similar work to me. We meet every couple of weeks, and they’re supportive of me and my business.
I have an accountability group where there’s a handful of people that we keep each other accountable to our goals every week.
I’m also a member of a community that helps give me ideas of want to do next in my business. They also support me in my business as well.
All of these things are made up of people that I’ve met sometimes in person, or I’ve only met them online.
Because we have similar goals and we’re trying to achieve similar things, we have something in common. You’ll also find that people who are trying to achieve goods things in their business are more positive people, and they’re going to be people that are going to be supportive by default.
Support One Another
Find those people that are going to support you. Find a handful of people that are going to cheer you on, keep you going. You can support them; they can support you. That way, you don’t have to feel like you need to talk to the people in your life that aren’t supportive about your business.
Be Picky About Who You Talk Business With
What to do when no one supports your business dream, especially friends and family? Sometimes the best thing to do is just to keep family relationships lighthearted.
Don’t get into business conversations.
Save that for other people that you find who are on the same path as you. You can go as deep as you want into business with those people and you won’t walk away feeling like you never should have started that conversation in the first place.
Get On Facebook! Join Groups And Be Part Of The Online Community
Where can you find those people? Get on Facebook.
Go and join meetups in your community. If people are having some sort of creative workshops or get-togethers, go out there and meet these people.
Go to little conferences or whatever you have to do to find supportive people.
Because if you have support behind you, it will help you achieve things so much faster and so much greater than you could have possibly done if you surround yourself with nothing but negativity.
And that is my answer to this Crafter Q&A and if you want more help from me personally you can check out my Crafter Community at craftercoach.com/community, that’s it from me until next week. Bye for now.
